The brainstorming phase was crucial in setting the foundation for my assignment. I started by thinking about different machine images that would be interesting and challenging to draw. Since I've always found a pink car in the movie Fast and Furious to be very interesting, I decided to do the pink car. I spent a lot of time searching for the perfect reference image that had the details that are easy to draw and can be seen clearly. Once I found the image that met my standards, I sent it to my professor for approval.
With the professor's approval, I moved on to creating the illustration. First, I imported the reference image into my design software. Using the pen tool, I traced the outline of the car, paying close attention to its curves and shapes. This step was important to set up the framework for the illustration. After outlining, I focused on the details like the headlights, grilles, and wheels, making sure each part was accurate. Then, I started adding colours and gradients. I tried different shades and tones, always comparing my work to the original image to stay accurate. The gradients were tricky because they needed smooth color blends to look like light reflections on the car's surface. I used multiple layers to manage different parts of the car, so I could make changes easily without affecting the whole illustration.Once I finished adding the colours and details, I thoroughly reviewed my work. I zoomed in to check the small details and make sure everything was perfect.
The final result was a car illustration that turned out better than I expected. The illustration accurately captured the original image's proportions and colours. My attention to detail made each part of the car look precise and wellvdefined. This project demonstrated both my technical skills and my ability to handle a complex task from start to finish. Overall, the project was a success. I turned my passion for cars into an art that showcased my skills.
